JCAHPO has established standards that must be met and has developed the certification multiple-choice examinations and skill or performance tests to assess compliance with those standards.

To ensure the examinations maintain relevancy, JCAHPO is required to conduct a Job Task Analysis every 5 years to assess the qualifications of individuals to perform the duties of an ophthalmic assistant, technician, and medical technologist. The assessment of duties (Job Task Analysis) was last performed in 2009. We will be e-mailing out a new analysis in May of this year with completion in 2016.
